Austrian plugs have two round pins plus two flat contact areas on the top and bottom side of the plug.You need an adapter for e.g. US, UK or French plugs.

  • Smoking areas
Smoking is not allowed in public areas e.g. airports, train stations, universities, shops, restaurants, bars. Smoking at JKU is only allowed outside the university buildings.

The time zone in Austria in February is CET - Central European Time = UTC/GMT +1 hours.
  • Visa

Participants from the EU, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Japan etc. do not need a visa for travelling to Austria.

Participants from e.g. Russian Federation, India, Peoples Republic of China, Argentina, etc. have to apply for a Visa. Please contact the Austrian Embassy or an Austrian Consulate in your country. Please note: It may take you several weeks to several months to apply for and receive your visa. Austria has a temperate continental climate.
In February the medium temperature is around +1°C (34°F), but can drop down to -15°C (+5°F). Precipitation is low in February, mostly snow.
